Principal's Message

Welcome to Deer Park North Primary School.

Deer Park North Primary School has a vibrant and diverse community with a strong commitment to life-long learning.

Our agreed school values are to be respectful, resilient, empathetic and your best. These provide the foundation for a commonly shared understanding and expectation of behaviours and attitudes that are representative of all community members.

We believe in putting students and learning first and ensure that our educational environments are calm, caring, supportive and engaging, where learning is personalised and children’s self-esteem is promoted. It is important that children have a positive and happy start to their school life, feel valued and confident in an atmosphere where they can achieve to the best of their ability.

DPNPS offers a variety of innovative programs that develop children's abilities and challenge their creativity and curiosity. Curriculum programs are based on the Victorian Curriculum Framework. A strong emphasis is placed on the curriculum areas of English and Mathematics. Units of work are developed by teaching teams using the inquiry learning approach where provision is made for the learning needs and interests of all students and learning is authentic and relevant.

Specialist programs include Science & Sustainability, The Arts, Physical Education, Health and Sport Education and Kitchen/Garden Program. In addition, at DPNPS students have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of enrichment programs including camps, incursions & excursions, instrumental music, performing arts concerts, student leadership, house system and peer mediation programs; all of which aim to foster leadership skills, independence, positive relationships and ensure a sense of purpose and belonging.

Our classrooms and facilities are attractive and well maintained. All classrooms are well equipped with interactive whiteboards and computers to support student learning through technology in all classrooms. The school grounds include extensive synthetic grass areas for football, soccer, cricket, bat tennis, passive play and minor games. Our indoor gymnasium/basketball court, general purpose room and music room is an excellent facility for sports activities and community events.

Enrolments for the Foundation year of school open in Term 2 each year for the following school year. Please check our website or contact the school office for details of regular school tours and parent meetings.

Choosing the right primary school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child, so I invite you to visit our school and discover all that we have to offer; meet our staff, inspect our facilities, discuss our programs and most importantly, ask questions.
