The children in Middle School have been working on an inquiry about Active Citizenship. Through this inquiry, we have learnt that:
- Communities depend on active citizens.
- Some people don’t have their basic needs met.
- There are individuals, services/organisations that help people.
Part of our inquiry was to take action and do something with the information and knowledge we had learnt. The action we took was to assist the FARESHARE organisation.
Melbourne food charity FARESHARE rescues surplus, quality food from supermarkets, farmers and other businesses. With the help of 800 regular volunteers, FARESHARE cooks this food into 25,000 free, nutritious meals a week for Victorian charities – such as soup vans, homeless shelters, food banks and school breakfast programs.
LOOK AT ALL THE PASTA AND RICE WE COLLECTED! IT'S SUCH A FANTASTIC FEELING KNOWING WE HAVE HELPED OTHERS IN NEED!
Thanks so much to everyone who donated rice and pasta!
